For today’s session the visiual arts professor Angela Chaverra joined us. Through an interactive techniques, she proposed that the participants reflect and internalise about their roles as women and how culture imagines ‘how should they be “beautiful”‘.
By finding themselves -and their partners’-, through a mirror, the girls expressed ‘what I like and do not like about my body’. In the mirror the girls started scrutinising their face (eyes, nose, mouth) continuing with their shoulders, chest and with each part of their bodies.
At the end of the workshop the participants used wool, buttons, make-up, magazine cuttings etc, to modify the part of their body that they said they didn’t liked.
